Have a technical question about the performance or Design Features
Irish Brake - the free turning flyer goes hand and hand with the electronic design of
this spinner. Good results are possible even with irregular drafting.
Because of the changing speed of the free turning flyer it makes it self
regulating for making an even yarn. If you pause and hold in the drafting,
the free turning flyer will increase until it is the same speed as the
bobbin. In this situation nothing will be laid down on the center of the
bobbin. The twist continues but the yarn will not break. When you are
ready again you can do a long draw to take up additional twist and this
will self regulate from your fingers through to the bobbin loading.
Tension Device -
this governs the rate of fiber pull in. Because there is no friction drag
in the tension groove it never changes with use. No need for adjustments
to speed or tension regardless of how big the diameter of the bobbin grows
in size. Your settings remain for the same.
On/Off Switch -
with a simple flip of a switch located on the front of the spinner you
easily start and stop the spinner. A foot control is available which also
can control the on/off mode. This can be purchased when you order or can
be added on at a later date.
Speed Control -
the speed control dial governs the amount of twist you put into your yarn.
Once set, it remains the same. This feature offers unbelievable
consistency with your yarns.
Combo version - this includes 2 standard bobbins and 1 jumbo. A standard bobbin holds
approx. 5 oz of yarn and the jumbo can hold up to 11 oz. This feature
offers larger skeins if desired.
Sliding Hook - this controls where your yarn is placed on the bobbin. The o-ring simply
slides on the arm of the flyer in either a forward or backward motion. One
quick easy step and you control where the yarn is placed.
All in one unit - included with the Roberta is everything you’ll need, from start to
finish. Three bobbins, threading hook located on side of spinner and built
in lazy kate that holds your spools whether they are stored or being used
for plying.
Dual Powered
available - for maximum portability the dual power offers the 120V plug in
and a 12V plug in with auxiliary cable. You can plug into a cigarette
lighter fitting, 12-volt power pack or small solar panel.
